It’s Mahvel baybee

After 7 months of not-so-hard labor I have finally completed my Playstation 3 (TM) Arcade controller. For me to complete this project I had to learn about woodworking, soldering and basic knowledge about electronics.
The controller works great and has been tested by one of my friends who is a very avid gamer. There may be a button sensing issue yet this is not a noticeable problem. I only noticed that there may be a button sensing issue when playing Tekken with the command history turned on. Despite the extra button press being detected Tekken’s combat system has some leniency when it comes to determining what your character would do according to your actions: A fireball may not be performed perfectly yet the game will still have your character unleash your special move.
Skills Required:
- woodworking
- soldering
- basic electronics
Tools Required:
- solder iron
- table saw
- drill press
- 1 1/2″ wooden paddle bit (http://www.toolbarn.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=WOOD+PADDLE+BIT) Price: Varies yet inexpensive
- wire stripper or pocket knife (I used both)
Materias and estimated costs:
- sacrificed breadboard or a terminal block (common ground for all the buttons) $2.00
- 10 Buttons (Jab, Medium, Fierce, Short Kick, Medium Kick, Roundhouse, PS3 Home, Start) $10.00
- Scrap wood
- Sanwa JLF-TP-8T Ball Handle Joystick $22.95
After spending over 20 hours of play the controller is in need of some repair. This was due to me not wanting to solder any connections yet since I was still testing the joystick. Now that the test is over I just need to finalize all the connections to prepare for the upcoming Tekken 6 tournament.
Lag on a Projector
by irufus on Jun.08, 2009, under Gaming, Technology
The only reason why you’re experiencing Lag on a projector is that you’re a cheapskate. The “Lag” you’re experiencing is caused by Upscaling on the display device’s image processor.
Why is it upscaling you ask? It’s because you’re using a display output that is lower than the native resolution of the projector. The projector has to spend some time bringing your output closer to a native resolution of the projector or TV. Therefore if you used a 480 native projector for your ps2 games instead of a 1080i native you would experience “lagless” gameplay. Yet if you have a PS3 outputting to 480 on a 1080i projector you will experince “lagged” gameplay and look like a moron blaming your losses on the projector.
So…. Buy some damn Component or HDMI cables you moron.
Nevertheless, for exhibition play, your best solution would be to go with dual display out 1 to a CRT 1 to a projector to support older consoles PS2 and earlier.

Xbox360 cannot go 180 on its Z-axis
by irufus on Jul.07, 2008, under Xbox360
My brother mistakely tried to right the XBox 360 when it was upside down while turned on and accessing the disc.
The Result:
A ring similar to this one:

There goes GTA IV ($55.59 down the drain)
Hopefully I can get the disc repaired or replace for a small fee.
