by irufus on Jan.27, 2009, under Technology, Troubleshooting PC
I recently ran into this issue with my Creative Audigy 4 card after re-attempting to install drivers in Windows XP after experiencing a few things:
- Upon Creative Auto-Update the drivers were installed for the Audigy 4 card and the X-Fi card and yet only the X-fi was active upon reboot.
- Tried to install drivers for the audigy 4 card (downloaded drivers)
Resolution:
- Downloaded the drivers directly from Creative.com’s website and ran their driver installer.
- Their installer will remove the old drivers and then attempt to install the correct drivers.
So keep this in mind if you run into this issue with drivers that you’re not able to install since it is locked by an auto-installer.
I can’t access if I don’t pay yet I can get updates?

If you ever tried to access any AT&T wifi hotspot in starbucks you would be welcomed by a friendly page asking for your login information and/or credit card to access the internet using their service.
You can refuse to pay and still remain connected to the wireless network yet cannot browse the network. However, you’re able to get updates from Apple?
Strange yet interesting. There may be a possible way to access the internet withough paying AT&T.
I hope this inpsires someone to find a way how.
DO NOT DIAL *72
by irufus on Oct.09, 2008, under Life, Technology
I swear this is the worst feature any phone company could have offered to residential customers.
Never dial any number someone tells you to dial that starts with *72.
*72 is the code to call foward your incoming calls to another destination. Therefore, you would not be able to pick up any incoming calls after the first ring and will be charged a hefty fee for each call and each minute on that call.
Why would someone ask you to do this?
- They’re in prison trying to use the system to reach someone on the outside
- They’re a scammer (see #1)
- It’s a very old scam that is almost as effective as the ILOVEYOU virus
- Legislation should be passed that would force telephone companies to have authorization protocols in place when making changes to the line that would incure charges
- Force AT&T to have authorization in place to even use *72
- Remove call fowarding from your phone plan.
- Warn the prison system involved, where the phone calls are coming from, and tell them that someone is calling your line
- Block all calls from prison unless you know someone that is in prison.
Despite what some Apple Fanboys think…

You can still purchase a Zune player.
Not only can you purchase one, you can design software for it using the XNA Framework.
